Terms of Payment

By the unique structure and savings offered by First Cremation Society, we require payment by cash, check, or credit card before services are rendered. We do not accept Insurance assignments nor are we able to extend credit.

Disclosures

The goods and services shown below are those we can provide to our customers. You may choose only the items you desire; however, any arrangements you select will include a charge for our basic services and overhead. If legal or other requirements mean you must buy any items you did not specifically ask for, we will explain the reason in writing on the statement we provide describing the goods and services you select. The list does not include prices for certain items that you may ask us to buy for you, such as newspaper notices. The prices for those items will be shown on your bill or the statement describing the services and merchandise selected. Certain Funeral services may be provided off premises by other funeral service providers.
Please allow 5 days for Simple Cremation and 3-4 weeks for certified death certificates.

Included is a memorial package which consists of register book, personalized memorial folders and acknowledgment cards. An attendant will be included at the memorial service. Not included will be the use of our facility, services of clergy, soloists, organists or other musical accompaniment.

Simple Cremation Online Package

Our charges (without ceremony) include: removal from the place of death (within 50 miles of our facility, beyond which is charged at $3.50 per loaded mile), administrative and staff services handled online or in person, preparation of remains for cremation, refrigeration (up to 48 hour period), transportation to our Crematory, cremation, a Simple Wood Urn, filing of the death certificate, (3) Certified Copies of NC Death Certificate, and medical examiner fee (if required).

Direct Cremation

Immediate Burial

Our charge includes removal (50 mile radius), beyond 50 miles add $3.50 per loaded mile, use of hearse, basic services of funeral director and staff, transportation to cemetery, supervision of activities, State and local laws do not require a casket for immediate burials. If you want to arrange an immediate burial, you can use an alternative container. Alternative containers encase the body and can be made of material like fiberboard or composition materials (with or without an outside covering).The containers we provide are cardboard containers. (without ceremony or viewing)

Obituary Notices
At Each Publisher’s Rate The writing of the obituary is the responsibility of the family.

Hosting of Online Obituaries $30

Death Certificates per NC certified copy $10+
Death certificates will be processed via USPS and mailed to the family as soon as they are available (typically 3-4 weeks).
Hand delivery of death certificates to doctors office and through state offices is available at a rate of $65 per hr.

Medical Examiner's Fee $50+
§ 130A-388.Medical examiner's permission necessary before embalming,burial and cremation. (a) No person knowing or having reason to know that a death may be under the jurisdiction of the medical examiner pursuant to G.S. 130A-383 or 130A-384, shall embalm, bury or cremate the body without the permission of the medical examiner. (b) A dead body shall not be cremated or buried at sea unless a medical examiner certifies that he has inquired into the cause and the manner of death and has the opinion that no further examination is necessary. This subsection shall not apply to deaths occurring less than 24 hours after birth or to deaths of patients resulting only from natural disease and occurring in a licensed hospital unless the death falls within the jurisdiction of the medical examiner under G.S. 130A-383 or 130A-384.The Commission is authorized to adopt rules creating additional exceptions to this subsection.For making this certification,the medical examiner shall be entitled to a fee in an amount determined reasonable and appropriate by the Secretary,not to exceed fifty dollars ($50.00),to be paid by the applicant. Professional Services

Basic Services of Cremation Society & Staff $525
This fee includes, but not limited to: arrangement conference; coordination with crematory and/or cemetery for final disposition of the cremated remains; procurement, preparation and filing of necessary notices; general administration expenses; general overhead expenses and governmental compliance. The fee for our basic services and overhead will be added to the total cost of the arrangement you select. This fee for our basic services and overhead will be added to the total cost of the funeral arrangements you select. (This fee is already included in our charges for direct cremations, immediate burials, and forwarding or receiving remains.)

Embalming $700
Embalming is not required by law. Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements such as a funeral with viewing. If you do not want embalming, you usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or immediate burial.

Our charge includes minimum services of funeral director and staff, embalming or alternate care, transfer to any airport within 50 miles and the shipping container. An additional fee for mileage beyond 50 mile of $3.50 per mile will be computed on a one way basis and any airfare is also additional.

Receiving Remains from another funeral home $1695
Our charge includes minimum services of funeral director and staff, mileage to and from any airport within 50 miles, beyond 50 miles add $3.50 per loaded mile, storage of the remains for up to 3 days, transfer to cemetery for immediate burial. Any ceremony will incur an additional charge.
