What is Cremation?

Cremation is a reduction of the body to ash and bone by the use of heat. We will be glad to provide any details of the process and procedures we use to ensure the deceased is treated with respect.

Is cremation accepted by all religions?

Almost all modern faiths accept cremation now. Exceptions are the Orthodox Jewish, Islamic, Eastern Orthodox, Greek Orthodox, and some Fundamental Christian faiths. We encourage you to consult with your religious adviser regarding your plans for disposition.

What happens to cremated remains after the service?

Cremated remains may be buried, scattered on private property or at sea, kept by a family member, or even incorporated in an artificial reef.

Is an urn required?

No, the cremated remains can be returned in a temporary container, which is included with all of our cremations. An urn may be desired for a ceremony or permanent display. Cemeteries and mausoleums have their own rules on what types of containers are accepted and we can help you determine what will meet the requirements if you will be using a cemetery.

Where is First Cremation Society located?

Our office and onsite crematory are located in Louisburg, NC however it is not necessary for you to travel there unless you desire to witness your loved one's cremation. Our business is designed for us to come to you and handle arrangements from the comfort of your own home.

What does a simple cremation cost at First Cremation Society?

Our Simple Cremation Package is $1095.00 complete with 3 death certificates, a Wood Urn, and Medical Examiners Fee (if required).

Does First Cremation Society offer burial as well?

Yes, by law we are licensed the same as any other funeral home in North Carolina, therefore we can offer burial services to your family with the same simple process and significant savings.
